Despite losing key songwriters the band was able to put together a great set of interesting and fun songs. It's not all classic pop-punk, but departures are often the best songs like the funkier "Ain't It Fun". "Daydreaming" has an undercurrent of Blondie's "Dreaming" to it and the run between it and "Part II" is my favorite section of the album. But right after that you get two classic Paramore style songs in "Last Hope" and "Still Into You".<br />
<br />
It's less "consistent" than Brand New Eyes but it might be more entertaining in the long run. Either way, it fits the catalog very well and makes me glad they stuck with it. - Customer Reviews<br />

My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up) - Fall Out Boy<br />
Holy cow! This is the way you come back after a several year hiatus: with a great song that reflects not only how great they work with each other, but shows off a whole new twist that came about after each artist went and explored their own styles. If the rest of the album is as catchy as this single, then I look forward to seeing it on my front porch the day it comes out.<br />

Thrift Shop (feat. Wanz) - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis <br />
Simple beat and smooth lyrics = hit. When i first heard this song, i wasn't sure if I liked it. After hearing it a second time, I knew this was a winner. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis aren't recreating rap, but this song is fresh and different from the current thug rap that is permeating the airwaves.<br />

This vinyl reissue from Elektra/WEA is just great. The mastering is excellent and the vinyl is quiet! The sticker on the outer baggy for the album says "Pressed with more care than ever." After having purchased a number of brand new lp's pressed at RTI and being disappointed by surface noise right out of the package it is nice to see these records finally undergoing better quality control. If you have an appreciation for this music, buy this record- you won't be disappointed. I nearly shelled out $150-$200 for a DCC lp of this title which I am certain sounds excellent. I will no longer do so as this version has left me perfectly satisfied for sound quality. The cover art reproduction is also very nice- the embossing is a nice touch. My only gripes with this edition are as follows: 1) The cover, while immaculately reproduced, is just a tad flimsy and 2) there is no mention of any mastering technicians/labs anywhere on the cover and there is no insert of any kind. The record itself is in a nice plastic inner sleeve. All around, I say this is 4 of 5 for presentation and 5 of 5 for sound. Totally worth the price. "One of These Nights" will have you struttin'. <i>- Customer Reviews</i><br />

I've followed the BeeGees since "Massachusetts" and with few exceptions I've enjoyed most every song. At times the critics and comedians have feasted on them, unfairly in my mind. This history of their stylish music is everything that I could ask. Thanks, Amazon, for making it available at such a reasonable price. <i>- Customer Reviews</i><br />

My love for this song is simple, Imagine Dragons has vocals that are superb, the minute they belt out the first chorus you're hooked to the sound of their vocals. They somehow manage to have a dark feel to them while managing to have a beat in the background that is anything but. I would recommend this song to anyone who is a fan of songs like Muses Supermassive Black Hole<br />

The Dark Side Of The Moon (2011 - Remaster) Pink Floyd<br />
I've had many versions of this perennial favorite. Heck, right now I have three versions of the studio release of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon alone. The original CD version, the 30th Anniversary hybrid SACD and, this, the new 2011 remaster. Although I have yet to hear the MFSL rendition, to me this is the best effort to date for a DSotM CD.<br />
<br />
For one thing, thankfully, they didn't compress the music. It's seems to level match fairly well with the other Dark Side CDs I have. Clarity seems to have improved also. It's so clear that it makes the others seem a bit muddied. The great part is not etched. Meaning it sounds smooth while the music is very well defined.<br />
<br />
The noise floor seems to be lower on the 2011 remaster than either the original or 30th Ann. That makes the music more dynamic with the quieter background.<br />
<br />
Overall the improvements of the 2011 remaster of DSotM are worth getting. The sound differences may not be dramatic but are certainly audible and make this classic even better.<br />
<br />
That's only half the story though. The Experience edition comes with the '74 live performance of this great album. THIS is what makes paying the small premium over the Discovery edition well worth it. Not only are the boys in terrific form giving an outstanding show (much better than the Pulse show 20 years later) but the sound quality is amazing. If the original studio version weren't so well known and this 1974 concert album were released years earlier, this could almost have become the definitive version.<br />
<br />
Highly recommended just for this CD alone. Add the well done 2011 remaster and it deserves a 5 star rating.<br />

Just Give Me A Reason P!nk featuring Nate Ruess<br />
<br />
Every single time I hear this song, I cry. It's so beautiful, and meaningful and REAL, that I can't help but tear up... while singing as loud as I can, lol. I think Nate Ruess did a great job at matching P!nk's overall tone and singing quality. What an amazing song!- Customer Reviews<br />

Love the new album. Such soul, he's sings so effortlessly. Love that the songs are longer than typical radio fare. Feels higher production. Only song I could do without is "Don't Hold the Wall" . Has a Bollywood feel that seems out of place in this classic soul album, feels like Timbaland reject beat. Other than that I love it! Stand outs include Pusher Love Girl" , "Strawberry Bubblegum" , "Spaceship Coupe" , "That Girl", and of course "Mirrors" . The King is back with style! - Customer Reviews<br />

Having grown up with "Chicago" as a teenager in the 70's, this purchase has been the best trip down memory lane! There will never be another group as Chicago, and their brass section was phenominal. The variety of their songs was incredible. I listen to this at work under headphones, and I am able to hear things I never heard while listening on the radio or gasp! - remember those things called 8-tracks and records??!! I have a whole new appreciation for this group and their enormous talent. This is a must-buy! There is not one "bad" song on this 2-set collection<br />

I love Bruno Mars’ music! Most artists sound the same in EVERY album-not Bruno Mars! His music is very unpredictable and I love that about him! This is one of my favorite songs today- especially the lyrics! 5-star rating for being original and writing the lyrics to this great song!<br />

This song caught my ear when I heard it on the radio for the first time. Its catchy, funny, and I love how Macklemore never takes himself too seriously. The video for the song makes it even better so definitely check it out on youtube if you haven't yet. I think Macklemore has some serious star potential.<br />

Bruno Mars will once again make noise in the music world. Bruno Mars has never failed on giving his listeners great and entertaining songs. I would consider it Pop Rock rather than just Pop because of the "rockiness" of the sound. All in all, GOOD JOB Bruno Mars!! This might just be his third Top 1 Billboard Hot 100 as the lead artist(even though this song is very different from all of his songs).! The only thing I didn't like about this is the cover, it's not for kids.... Great start for "Unorthodox Jukebox"!! looking forward for more great songs!<br />
<br />
When I'm feeling a little down all I have to do is turn on "Locked Out of Heaven" and I'm feeling better. There is something about the rhythmic combinations that make me car dance when I listen to it.
Highly recommend.<br />

I'm kind of a Classical Music super collection hoarder. I have probably own 2,000+ classical recordings through various albums purchased from Amazon. This one is really wonderful. More than a mere sampling, this set feels like a sonic adventure due to the vast array of songs and is incredibly relaxing. I would totally recommend.<br />

I really like this cd! I had picked up her 2-cd Teenage Dream edition(wich I love,I have enjoyed it very much.<br />
I liked the acoustic version of ''The one that got Away''.Just her voice & her guitar.The last song on,the remix Katy sngs the 1st verse & chorus of her hit songs,wich makes for a grand finale.<br />
Also the new songs include songs from Katy's new 3-D Movie:Part Of Me.Speaking of that song,what a good break-up song for her to deal with during her divorce.She's a Firework!<br />
Awesome cd.Love it!<br />
<br />
I bought this CD after I saw the Katy Perry video for "Part of Me." I'm a former Marine, so I wanted to support Katy. It turns out that the CD is great. It's got about five great tracks on it. Some of the songs have some profanity in them that doesn't add to the music. I guess you get that with kids playing with the First Amendment. Otherwise, it's great.<br />

21 is the eagerly awaited sophomore album from British singer-songwriter Adele. It’s the follow up to Adele’s critically acclaimed, Grammy award winning debut album 19 (both named after her age at the time the songs were written). Recorded in Malibu and London, 21 offered Adele the opportunity to work with such luminary producers and songwriters as Rick Rubin, Paul Epworth, Ryan Tedder, Dan Wilson and Fraser T. Smith, as well as continuing to work with Francis “Eg” White and Jim Abbiss.<br />
<br />
This new collection of songs showcases the growth of this incredible artist, who at the very young age of twenty two, exhibits the poise of a seasoned veteran. Adele’s music takes some new direction while staying true to her signature style. “I discovered lots of artists I'd never heard of, particularly Wanda Jackson, Allison Krauss, Yvonne Fair, Andrew Bird, Neko Case, Lady Antebellum and Steel Drivers who I fell in love with. Then I delved in to more from artists I've loved forever - Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, Elbow, Mos Def, Alanis Morissette, Tom Waits and Sinead O'Connor. There's something in every single one of these artists that have really really inspired 21.”<br />

The Flo Rida/Sia collaboration of "Wild Ones" is surprisingly good. Can an indie diva who composed songs for Christina Aguilera (BIONIC - DELUXE (Explicit)), provided the soundtrack for a movie about a vampire/werewolf love triangle (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)), has been part of a rock opera on Imelda Marcos (Here Lies Love (2CD)) REALLY collaborate with a well-known rapper? After all, Flo Rida sang with Ke$ha in Right Round before she became famous. In "Wild Ones", Flo Rida takes the back seat to Sia. He lets her luminous voice shine. His rapping is OK, but Sia is marvelous. She's truly the wild one!<br />

This is a great song, even if it does have cheesy lyrics and is very bubblegum. It has a well-crafted beat that is built on retro-disco strings. The lyrics are actually clever. It does feature a theme that has not been thought of before. And they are so CATCHY. With the excellent beat and irresistible lyrics, it is irrelevant that the song is cheesy. After all, it's pop music.
Carly Rae Jepsen has just an okay voice in my opinion, though. However, it's just as good as most of the pop artists out there and actually better than a handful of them. She's no Adele or even Rihanna, but it's better than Katy Perry.<br />

With a burst of bass, piano, and drums, the song climaxes into a
thrilling and mesmerizing chorus. The main line claims that "tonight we
are young" so "let's set the world on fire" and "burn brighter than the
sun." It is hard to remember the dark story being told in the verses
since it is difficult to not sing and nod along to the encouraging
chorus. The bass line carries the chorus along, while the piano and drum
supplement the bass with chords and beats that all add together to
create a music powerhouse for Nate to sing to.<br />
<br />
The song starts with a beating drum reminiscent of a beating heart
anticipating some sort of dark event. The drums continue in a repetitive
rhythm underneath as the crooning voice of Nate Ruess begins telling
the story of his abusive relationship. His story weaves in and out of
the verses about his "lover" that he has "scarred" and presumably
verbally and physically abused. None of the other characters in this
shady story are remotely characterized compared to the girl. The lyrics
do so by creatively avoiding specifying characters; for example, the use
of metonymy when "sunglasses" take the main character's spot at the bar
leaves an air of generality that is used to always draw back to the
main girl. At the end of the first verse, which slowly introduces a drum
and piano into the mix, the music abruptly stops with the exception of
Ruess's voice and piano chords.<br />

<br />
A second pause leads into the second verse that resembles the first
verse's sound but with a stronger musical undercurrent. The lyrics shift
back the couple "find[ing] new ways to fall apart" but it is less
depressing because it continues on the enchanting sound of the chorus. A
second playing of the chorus reiterates the point that the evil in
their relationship is easily overlooked by the excuse that they are
"young" and only want to live as much as they can while they can. This
is exactly what the song does as well. It covers the malicious undertone
with captivating music and a promising chorus, not to mention Nate
Ruess's exceptional sound.<br />
<br />
The song then shifts into Janelle Monae, likely representing the female
character. She continually requests that someone "just carry [her] home
tonight." Albeit her voice is lovely, it is tinged with defeat as gives
in to her abusive partner one more time. Ruess chimes back in entreating
someone to "carry [him] home tonight" as well. The chorus of male and
female voices chanting "Na na na na" beneath the main voices unifies
their message of desperation of not going home alone as well as keeping a
youthful, almost naïve energy coursing through the song. Perhaps their
relationship is beautiful in its own broken way. Or is it just a
never-ending cycle of unhappiness?<br />
<br />
The chorus is repeated one last time, and "We Are Young" dwindles to a
close echoing the start of the song. Once again, clear and resonating,
it is just piano chords and Ruess's voice to lull the listener into a
state of contentment about being "carr[ied] home tonight."<br />

There is an aura of 80s pop that hangs over Gotye's
"Somebody That I Used To Know." The spare opening may remind a few pop
fans of the intimate percussive feel of classic pop songs by the
Thompson Twins. The use of both the male and female voices and words
describing a relationship gone bad is reminiscent of Human League's
classic "Don't You Want Me." Then there is the dead ringer for Sting on
the chorus. However, there is something about the intimacy of this
recording that makes it not a copy but an elegant and clever use of
influences to create something that stands tremendously well on its own.<br />
<br />
Gotye has clearly updated his sound with contemporary digital
technology. He says that a number of his "instruments" are virtual
representations of real life equipment. The sounds have the slightly
futuristic shimmer of electronic music, but they also retain the warmth
of their predecessors. The song "Somebody That I Used To Know" first
came to the attention of many US pop music fans through its recreation
on an acoustic guitar by the Canadian group Walk Off the Earth. The
durability of the song has already been proven through a wide range of
cover versions.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
By the time the song winds down to a close with both singers uttering
"Somebody...," where do our sympathies lie? Or is it simply a
relationship that wasn't meant to be? The lyrical brilliance of
"Somebody That I Used To Know" is that it lays bare the pain in the
unfortunate end to this pairing, but in realistic form it raises more
questions about the protagonists than it answers. Most of us can also
relate to the gnawing pain of someone important becoming simply,
"Somebody that I used to know." Gotye has riveted the attention of pop
fans worldwide with this song. It has already reached #1 in seven
different countries around the world. "Somebody That I Used To Know"
has climbed into the top 10 on both the rock songs and alternative songs
charts in the US. It is beginning to explode with pop audiences. This
will be one of the songs of the year for 2012.<br />
